Just after 1900 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Coastal Hwy (SR 1) and Broadkill Rd. (SR 16). 85-11 responded with Deputy Chief Hopkins as officer. Sussex EOC advised Deputy Chief Hopkins of a two vehicle MVC with multiple patients and advised that Station 82 (Lewes) had been alerted for additional BLS units. Deputy Chief Hopkins arrived to find a two vehicle MVC that was the result of a high speed chase, and assumed 85-Command. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived next with Captain Clendaniel as officer. Command assigned 85-2 to check and secure both vehicles. While checking one vehicle, Captain Clendaniel discovered a patient confined in the vehicle in need of a door pop. Crews from 85-2 made quick work, extricating the patient in about a minute. Crews from Rescue 85, and Engine 85-5 assisted with securing the vehicles and debris clean up. In all, ground BLS (A-85, E-82, D-82) transported a total of three patients, while Trooper 2 transported one patient. Command placed the scene under control and returned all units.

Units responding, 85-11, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Engine 85-5, Rescue 85, Brush 85-00, A-85, E-82, D-82, A-89, Medic 104, Trooper 2, DSP, DSFP, Milton Pd.
