At 1915, Sussex EOC alerted Milton, Lewes (82), Rehoboth Beach (86), and Slaughter Beach (89) for a structure fire in the Cripple Creek subdivision off of Hudson Rd. 85-8 (Deputy Chief Millman) arrived at 1918 to find a single story residential with fire from the chimney. Engine 82-2 (staffed) arrived next and took the first due engine assignment. 82-2s officer (Lt. Hunsiker) reported a light smoke condition in the living area and stretched a handline. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived next and took the second due engine assignment. Crews form both units completed primary and secondary searches, and also checked for extension on the first floor and attic spaces. As crews were completing these tasks, Sussex EOC alerted for a box alarm just around the corner on Eagles Crest Rd. Command re-directed Engine 85-5, Rescue 85, and the balance of the Lewes and Rehoboth units to that alarm. Command held the response to Ladder 82, Tanker 85, and the units that were on scene. Crews operated for about an hour before turning the house over the homeowner and clearing.
